Bags Creature Co is Now Nonsense Monster Designs

Hey y’all I’ve been contemplating it for a while and now its legit. I’m in the process of Re-Branding my Plush company Bags Creature Co to Nonsense Monster Designs or Nonsense Monsters for short. I’m gonna be diversifying my logos some too, so don’t be surprised that D-wayne isn’t in every one of them either lolz.

I’ve been wanting to change it for a while now, just because there was a lot of confusion with the whole “bags” thing, and because I’ve wanted to further distance myself from John Murphy’s Stupid Creatures, his book may have been how I started but its far from my style now. Also I’ve always used the term Nonsense to define my characters thus the name change.

The process of the Re-Branding actually helps encourage me to get my hiney in gear in terms of re-developing my website, which i’d needed to do anyway. Meanwhile when I get in the web design kick I’ll be launching the Pimp5Productions Website soon too. Bleh I’m gonna be busy with websites. Not to mention of course that I’m in 2 Sculpture classes AND a installation video class. WOO!

Consequently I may be retiring this blog on here as I’m trying to shuffle away from the use of “Bags” in Non-Nerf setting as little more than a internet ID.

My nerfstrong band broke today.

I can’t think of a better moment for it to do so than after what the Season of Foam Team have to announce.

The Season of Foam team…

is not going to be seeing all of you this summer, for we cannot do the Trip.

There’s a flurry of both financial and personal reasons for this, I won’t break it down in detail, because like I said they’re personal reasons. I’ll share the short version: actually about 2 months ago we realized that Pilz was unable to come… that was a good thing, lowering the traveling team to 4 made it so we could take one car instead of two and naturally reduced costs. But that also put us in a position where if we lost another member of the team it wasn’t happening at all. Well the economy’s hit everyone hard and California’s taken it the hardest, and quickly all of us, particularly me as a freelance artist, knew we’d be cutting things close on funds. Then Falcon successfully landed an internship up in NorCal (hence why he’s hosting a CAFF up that way), and for various reasons that put his ability to make this trip unlikely. I then discovered that if I want to graduate on time at UCI, I need to take summer school and the class I need is only available first session, unfortunately that would put me taking my Finals the same time we’re scheduled to be in New York. With Falcon and I more than likely out of the picture, it was pretty obvious what we had to do.

But, that does not mean That THE SEASON OF FOAM is over. Far from it. I would hate to see all these events that have been planned not happen just because 4-5 people couldn’t come. What the community has going on here is gonna be something epic regardless. There will be a Three Week period where there’s a Nerf War Almost Every Day, some in areas that haven’t had a large scale event ever. That my friends, is insanely awesome. And I think its still something worth Documenting. As such, I propose Season Of Foam transform from a documentary made by 5 SoCal Nerfers, into a Documentary made by Nerfers from Across all parts of the hobby.

That’s right: I want to turn this into a community-wide project in a completely different way than it was before. R2L Media (which is Mine, Pilz and Falcon’s production company) still wants to spearhead the production, but we’re no longer going to be bringing ourselves and equipment to you. You’re going to be sharing what you experienced with us. Sometime within the next week I’ll be contacting all the people who were organizing their local events and/or intent on hosting The SOF-T 5 as well as many other people within the community. What I’ll be doing is asking them to document their local events, and perhaps answer some questions on video. So all of you with video cameras out there… be ready to put them to use.

I’m sorry that I won’t be getting to meet so many of you. I’d been looking forward to doing so for quite some time now, but I hope that there’s a chance that will change in the future. It was a hard thing for me to let the trip and that version of Season of Foam go, it was my dream project. But I’m not going to let it get my spirits down.

Someday I would like to still make the Season Of Foam I originally planned, but if I do, it will be several years down the raod and I’ll most likey be following a Different Group of Nerfers and tagging along strictly as a Filmmaker… but for now I want to see what the NIC can produce with what’s still going to happen this summer.

Hey Blog monkeys! I’m not dead and in fact quite well and rather busy with school, life, and world domination. ya know, the usual. As such my blog as been rather dead for the last few months, kinda like how I never got around to starting my weekly “Stuf I think is awesome Vlog” wich I really do want to start doing, for serious.

it was initially inspired by my Nature Photography Satire series: Pokemon Photography, and me trying to figure out what it would be like if I lived in the pokemon universe… quickly the ideas started running rampant and before I knew it 90% of the cast was essentially pokemon-ified versions of my friends and more wacky humor than you can shake a stick at. its only on the first page of the prologue right now, but there’s more to come!

In nerfy news I am working on the re-vamp of the SOF site still, and we’re making a couple new videos right now as well.

In creature news I haven’t had many comissions and I’d love to take a few more so I can keep making plushies so shoot an e-mail to order@bagscreatures.com for mor info.

Well, There it is… the quilt of socks.

I’m very happy with the end result, but I’m still annoyed by the fact that my teacher because one, she made me do it, and then two… she did that so she could make an example out of me. *shakes fist*

Speaking of that. I think that the debate of the line between Art and Craft is a bunch of crap. This wasn’t “Craft” I didn’t make it as a leisure activity… No I made Flippin art.

Been burning the candle at both ends for the whole weekend working on this bloody quilt from hell. I’m tired, sickly and grumpy…but it’s done. Funnier than that… I literally broke my Sewing Machine’s last needle on the last stich of this thing. So now I have to go buy more… but it was kinda poetic that it happened.

It looks awesome, and once I can get a good pic I’ll post it. I better get an A for this project.

Yeah, so after an agonizing process of finally getting a project proposal approved by my Visual culture teacher culminated with her Not particularly liking any of my ideas as they were… but she kinda liked my one about socks… if I made it a quilt. So now I’m making a full-blown Quilt out of friggin socks… a Twin-bed size quilt. that’s 20 individual panels… which take roughly 4 socks and a piece of a 5th.. so yeah… I’m working my ass off on this, and worse than that, there’s a good chance that it’s not going to get appreciated for the work it took either. Rawr.

Greetings Comrades. Just sharing a rather odd phtotshop project for my Digital Imaging class. Made from things related to me… my head/Skin is a nerf ball. The Eyes came from a creature. The Hair is Monster fur, the hat’s made from socks, and my shirt is made from some awesome Fleece fabric I used to make a cloak.

So It has begun.

Well, what can I say… Season Of Foam went from “hopefully 09” to Concretely 2009, in literaly about a week, And now everything’s starting to come together really quickly. Greg’s nearly got the propsed trip map planned, and as soon as I get it from his it goes to Tony for a rough budget analysis. I really need to find a way to generate some more funds to fairly cover my share in this production, I mean, yeah I’m producing all the promotional goods (shirts…ect) but that’s for the general trip fund. I just have to hope I get a good run of comissions on creatures this upcoming month, since it’s my last real major moneymaker befor this trip, That’s right Valentines is coming and that means Plushies… and just because I’m slaving away on SOF projects doesn’t mean I’m ignoring the fact that I’m supposed to be Re-building the Bags Creature Co. Site too, in fact i’ve alredy put some of the stuff for it into the works.And yes, I know I still need to upload all my christmas comissons to DA…I’m working on it… seriously. But yeah, There are great things to come… and I’m going to RAWK them. I promise.

I’m on my last two plushie commissions for my Christmas rush time, they’re both for my homie Tony who lives like three blocks away from me, and he needs them by Christmas Eve so I’m good… but wow… I’m like literally burned out on making plushies… I still have two more to do after that, one for my Clone from an alternate future Alex, one of my frequent collaborators, and the other which has taken almost a year to actually get past the planning phase thanks to the fact that my homegirl Kelli is like the wind… but that’s beyond the point, the point is that by the end of December I’m gonna need to take a break from plushing or I’m gonna go nuts. I have pics for 9 creatures to upload to deviantart now from this recent batch, and two more to add to that shortly… I’d really like to give myself a little time to recover… but I know that it can’t be much of one because I have to build up an inventory for Valentines Day… my only other big selling time… so I guess I just need to keep going…

In other Creaturey news, D-wayne Came in the mail today back from my buddy Patrick Carrie, of Limbeck fame, along with a CD full of pics. See, D-wayne went on tour with Limbeck (well… half of Limbeck at least) during their recent Acoustic Tour, taking pics with D-wayne at a few landmarks during the trip. it was pretty darn rad of them to do that, I’ll be postin the pics fairly soon. I hope to get more people to take d-wayne with them on any long distance treks and shoot photos with him like this in the future.

Fortunately I have a few things to work on to keep me occupied on the Nerf Front that will keep all this sewing from driving me completely crazy (see I’m only mostly crazy … which is how I prefer to remain) , including a few new modding projects that I’m jumping into straight after Christmas. Also I’m going to really be kicking into gear on re-building these websites too… really.

on a side note, I’m currently watching The Muppet Christmas Carol for what I think is at least my tenth time for the month… and I’m not tired of it in the least… in fact I think I’m gonna be sad when Christmas is over and I have to let this excellent film collect dust on my shelf for a year… le sigh. Seriously I put this right up there with White Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life, and A Christmas Story, as one of the best Holiday Films ever… I mean, it just isn’t Christmas without the telling of the story of a Christmas carol by a blue, furry, Charles Dickens and his food-obsessed sarcastic rat sidekick.

On another side note I somehow got dropped from one of the classes I enrolled in for next quarter at UCI… which I’m still confused about, but not concerned; I’m still a full time student…and seeing as now that means I only have to be at school on Monday and Wednesday… and that my school day starts at Noon… it’s nearly the prefect Commuter Student schedule except that I get out at six… and right in the middle of rush hour traffic… but it’s not so bad. This also means I can finally not rely on this hit or miss unemplo… er…I mean Freelance… thing, and perhaps land a standard job, nothing fancy, I’m hoping for a shot to work at my local Toys R Us or as a craft teacher at Michale’s… just some sort of part time gig that will give me steady pay.

Well waking up this morning to a psuedo-winter-wonderland was rather rad, sadly it was already starting to melt away… and it wasn’t that heavy… but it was still enough…as of now most of it is gone except for a wee bit o ice that’s made my driveway slick… but it was awesome while it lasted… the hills behind me look amazing and white though… and that makes me happy. I’m finishing up what should be the last of my holiday comissions right now and mailing them out tomorrow morning. I’m also proud to report that I am now the proud owner of an elusive nerf crossbow… and that makes me very happy.

Rainy Day Gives way to Snowy Night!? HECK YES!

Ok so just since I’ve posted my last entry earlier today I’ve seen a dramatic weather change here… ITS FREAING SNOWING! I’m Dead Serious Its SNOWING! and it’s starting to come down think enough to actually stick to the ground. I’ve got a ton of pics to share this is soo amazing.. I’m in shock frankly … and It just keeps comming. I’m sooo excited!. This it awesome… it actually feels like Christmas here in typically host sunny SoCal. Awesome Sauce.

On an unrelated note…consequently it turns out that I somehow left my wallet in my Homie Bert’s truck on monday… yeah… so I’m going to go get it from him tomorrow…

Well… it’s raining and bloody cold here in typically sunny Southern California, and I’ve discovered it makes for excellent sewing weather… I simply cannot go out an do anything else… heck, it’s even too cold for me to feel like doing some nerf modding in my garage. on an upside, it means I’m going to crank out my current list of comissions easily within the time i have to get them done by. Hey, I may just even find the time to make a couple extra ones for peeps who need a last min gift… perhaps.

I also happen to have misplaces my wallet… which sucks royally…
